Major Responsibilities
- To lead the academic and administrative management of the Macao University of Tourism.
- To ensure that the University fulfills its objectives and discharges its duties.
- To formulate the University’s overall policies and development plans, and submit them to the University Council for approval.
- To oversee the operation of academic units, training units and support units, and ensure coordination among them.
- To formulate the University’s annual activity plan and submit it to the University Council for consideration.
- To prepare the University’s annual activity report.
- To propose the creation, modification, suspension and discontinuation of higher education programmed in light of the University’s long-term development needs and financial viability.
- To strive to enhance the quality of teaching and research.
- To actively foster cooperation with renowned universities and industry organizations in Mainland China and overseas, thereby supporting the University in achieving its internationalization goals.
- To strengthen industry-academia research collaboration, enhance the University’s capacity for social services, and increase its social impact.
Essential Requirements
Candidates should meet the following essential requirements:
- Possess a doctoral degree.
- Be a Full Professor of a higher education institution, or possess substantial professional experience and recognized professional qualifications in the field of education.
- Be of good civic character.
Preferred Requirements
- At least eight years of teaching and academic research experience as a professor, or in a position equivalent to professor, in disciplines related to cultural tourism and hospitality management, with significant contributions to teaching and academic research.
- Not less than ten years of administrative management experience in higher education, preferably with experience serving as a vice-rector, dean, or in an equivalent position.
- Extensive networks in the academic, higher education, cultural tourism and hospitality professional fields, and the public sector at both global and national levels. Preference will be given to candidates currently or previously holding key positions in such institutions.
- Familiarity with, and research experience in, economic development strategies relating to the cross-sector integration of cultural tourism and hospitality with other industries, as well as the transfer of research outcomes; ability to promote interdisciplinary integration and development within the University.
- Familiarity with development trends in higher education in Macao, Mainland China and overseas, with an international outlook and a forward-looking philosophy of university governance.
- Forward-looking thinking and outstanding leadership abilities, with the capacity to lead the University in achieving substantial development in teaching, research, internationalization and social services.
- Fluency in Chinese and English for communication and professional exchange.
