About the Conference

The Travel and Tourism Research Association Europe Chapter invites academics, researchers, doctoral students, practitioners, destination leaders, and industry partners to submit contributions for TTRA Europe 2027.

Centered around the theme Tourism 2040: Human-Centered Futures in Smart and Regenerative Ecosystems, the conference will explore how tourism can evolve toward more intelligent, inclusive, ethical, sustainable, and regenerative models of development.

The conference places a strong emphasis on empirically supported decision-making grounded in rigorous scientific approaches and interdisciplinary collaboration.

TTRA Europe 2027 will provide an international platform for academic exchange, applied industry perspectives, and forward-looking discussions focused on the future of tourism research, strategy, governance, technology, destination management, and innovation toward 2040 and beyond.

Conference Tracks

TTRA Europe 2027 will feature a broad range of conference tracks exploring the future of tourism research, strategy, governance, innovation, sustainability, technology, and destination development.

Tracks will include themes related to:

Submission Categories

Extended Abstracts
Research in progress, conceptual studies, concise research papers, and case studies designed to foster discussion and feedback. Submissions should clearly demonstrate novelty, innovation, and contribution.

Applied (Industry) Papers
Practice-oriented submissions highlighting managerial implications, practical applications, and industry perspectives with actionable insights for tourism professionals and decision-makers.

Student Papers
Master’s and doctoral student submissions, including theses and research-in-progress presentations connected to the Doctoral Colloquium.

Posters
Concise visual presentations of research-in-progress, conceptual frameworks, or applied tourism projects.

Poster submissions should be provided as one A1 PDF file:

  • 23.4 × 33.1 inches
  • 59.5 × 84.1 cm

Submission Guidelines

All submissions, except posters, should:

  • be limited to two A4 pages,
  • use Tahoma 12 pt font,
  • use single line spacing,
  • include tables where appropriate,
  • include one figure,
  • include up to 10 references using APA 7th edition referencing style.

Submissions should include:

Doctoral Colloquium

TTRA Europe 2027 will include a dedicated Doctoral Colloquium designed to support emerging tourism scholars through discussion, mentorship, academic exchange, and feedback from internationally recognized researchers and industry experts.

The colloquium will provide doctoral and master’s students with opportunities to present research in progress, discuss methodologies and theoretical approaches, and connect with the broader TTRA research community.
