Introducing Amanda Moffett
Meet Amanda Moffett, Director of Destination Partnerships at Key Data and a dedicated member of the SETTRA Board serving her first term. In her role, she partners with destination organizations, economic development teams, and researchers to leverage short-term rental and lodging insights for strategic planning and community-aligned growth. She also currently serves on the SETTRA Content Engagement Committee.

What is your current role with your organization?
As part of the team at Key Data, I partner with destination organizations to help them leverage short-term rental and lodging insights for strategic planning and performance measurement. I work closely with DMOs, economic development teams, and tourism researchers to support community-aligned tourism growth.
What is your current role as a board member of SETTRA?
I serve on the SETTRA Content Engagement Committee. We are always looking for ways to advance member engagement through relevant content, events, and communication initiatives.
Where It All Started
What initially drew you to the travel and tourism research field?
The early part of my tourism career was spent working with wholesalers, tour operators, and OTAs, where I focused on creating and filling demand and in those roles, I worked closely with DMOs, hoteliers, DMCs, and attractions, helping them answer critical questions around ROI, targeting, and attribution. When the opportunity arose to help DMOs access clear, accurate data to answer those same questions – and make better decisions for the long-term health of their destinations – I couldn’t pass it up, and I’ve loved the work ever since.
Board Perspective
What inspired you to get involved with the SETTRA board / What have you enjoyed most?
Serving on the SETTRA board has deepened my understanding of the diversity and complexity of the tourism industry. Even as a “seasoned” professional, it’s easy to develop a narrow view of the work being done and the challenges ahead. Engaging with a broader group of practitioners and academics has expanded my perspective and strengthened my appreciation for the thoughtful, often unseen work happening every day to ensure our industry continues to thrive.
Advice & Outlook
What advice would you give to emerging professionals interested in research or data in travel and tourism?
Be flexible in how you envision your career and open to roles that may not look traditional at first. The travel and tourism data landscape is evolving so quickly, so you’ll need to stay curious and adapt. Also, invest in relationships early!
Fun & Personality
What’s one surprising fact about you?
I’m a huge fan of board games and card games! It’s one of my favorite ways to spend phone-free time with my teenager.
Outside of research and data, what’s your favorite way to recharge?
I love being outside (beach, golf, camping, boating), and spending time with my family and friends. I love hosting and bringing people together… preferably with food and wine!
What destination is currently at the top of your must-visit list?
The world! I can’t choose a single place. I want to see it all.
