Denise Miller Honored with Travel and Tourism Research Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award

Denise Miller, serving as the Executive Vice President of SMARInsights, has consistently demonstrated outstanding dedication and expertise in tourism marketing and research since 1988. Her remarkable leadership and valuable insights have greatly influenced the development of innovative consumer programs and the refinement of marketing strategies for existing initiatives.
Throughout her illustrious career, Denise has collaborated with state and local organizations, supporting economic development through target marketing, advertising effectiveness, and economic impact analyses. Her profound impact on the industry has earned her invitations to speak at renowned tourism conferences, including the Travel & Tourism Research Association (TTRA), International Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus, and various state tourism conferences such as Arizona, Indiana, Massachusetts, Wisconsin, and South Carolina.
Denise’s extensive research experience encompasses a wide range of studies among leisure travelers, meeting planners, and group tour operators. Her expertise includes perception studies, destination selection, satisfaction analysis, and advertising research. Notable clients she has served include convention and visitors’ bureaus in St. Louis and Branson, MO; Monterey County, CA; Los Angeles; and Phoenix. Additionally, Denise has successfully designed and implemented Advertising Effectiveness and ROI research for prominent destinations such as California, Florida, Utah, Wyoming, Texas, Colorado, and Missouri.
Beyond her research contributions, Denise has played an instrumental role in advancing the field of travel and tourism research. She served as the President of the Travel and Tourism Research Association International in 2011 and as the President of the Association of Indiana Convention & Visitors Bureaus in 1987. Furthermore, Denise has held pivotal positions, including President, Vice President, and Chairman of the Board for the CenStates Chapter of the Travel and Tourism Research Association from 2000 to 2008. Presently, she continues to serve as a Board member for the Hamilton County Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Denise’s impressive career achievements and extensive involvement in the industry have solidified her as a distinguished leader in the field of travel and tourism. Her outstanding contributions to TTRA and the industry at large have made a lasting impact on the advancement of research, marketing strategies, and economic development.
