The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching excellence and innovative instruction in a student-centered environment. Enthusiasm for active and collaborative learning and high interest in instructional use of technology and online teaching are fundamental to this position. Moreover, the candidate must demonstrate potential to advance the scholarship of teaching and learning, and be committed to continuous improvement of the department’s curriculum.
The candidate will be expected to teach a minimum of three courses per semester in the core curriculum of the Department, specifically in the sport management curriculum. Candidates with teaching specializations and expertise in any aspect of sport management, sport event management, eSports, sport marketing, sport programming, recreational sports, and youth sports or other closely related fields will be considered. Candidates with background and expertise in the intersections of sport and the natural/built environment, event planning and marketing, and recreation planning are highly desirable.
The candidate will be expected to advise and mentor undergraduate students and actively participate in curriculum development and assessment.
Minimum Education and Experience
- The successful candidate should have a master’s degree for the rank of Lecturer and a master’s degree plus at least 5 years college-level teaching experience for the rank of Senior Lecturer.
- A doctoral degree is required for Teaching Professor ranks, with a graduate degree in sport management, parks, recreation and tourism management or a closely related field and a strong interest in the scholarship of teaching.
Other Required Qualifications
- Applicants must have experience in teaching students in higher education, and familiarity with curriculum development.
- Applicants must demonstrate experience with utilizing a variety of teaching technologies.
- Applicants should possess clear and effective communication skills, and be able to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff and other stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong commitment to teaching excellence and scholarship of teaching.
- Demonstrated expertise or advanced knowledge of core concepts in sport and recreation management.
- Experience in sport management and its related fields and its subfields.
- Familiarity with and interest in online teaching.
