Downs & St. Germain Research (DSG) is a national tourism market research firm that helps destinations and tourism organizations make better decisions through survey research, reporting, and strategic insights. We are seeking an entry-level Tourism Data Analyst to help manage data processes and support report production across multiple client projects.
This role is ideal for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with data. The primary focus is compiling incoming data from multiple sources, cleaning and validating datasets, and supporting the creation of clear, accurate reporting outputs.
Key responsibilities
As a Tourism Data Analyst, you will support multiple studies at once and help ensure our data is accurate, complete, and report-ready. Responsibilities include:
- Collecting and organizing data from multiple sources (survey platforms, spreadsheets, client files, partner datasets)
- Cleaning and validating datasets (checking for errors, formatting inconsistencies, duplicates, missing values)
- Maintaining documentation and quality control checks so datasets remain consistent and reliable
- Building and updating tables, charts, and repeatable reporting templates
- Preparing data outputs and visuals for reports and presentations (PowerPoint + Excel-based deliverables)
- Supporting survey administration workflows (e.g., exporting data from platforms like Alchemer)
- Communicating clearly with internal project leads to confirm dataset definitions, cutoffs, and reporting needs
- Learning and applying DSG processes to keep deliverables on schedule
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field (analytics, statistics, economics, psych, marketing research, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple datasets at one time
- Comfort interpreting data and translating findings into clean tables/outputs for reports
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Solid communication skills and ability to work both independently and with Tallahassee a team
- Intermediate skill level in Excel and PowerPoint
Preferred/bonus qualifications
Experience in any of the following is a strong plus:
- Alchemer
- Displayr
- SPSS
- Advanced Excel (pivots, formulas, lookups, data validation)
Additional coding or technical skills are welcome (R, Python, SQL, etc.). Ability to learn new software quickly and help others learn is a major bonus.
Position details
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $47,500.00 – $57,500.00 per year, based on experience

- A typical work week consists of Monday to Friday 9:00am-5:30pm. Some research projects may require work outside of these hours.
