TTRAconnects – September 2019 Edition

September 27, 2019

Hello TTRA Members and Friends,

Today, September 27, marks a very special day for our industry: World Tourism Day declared by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). It is a tradition to celebrate the tourism industry around the globe and remember its transformative role.

This year’s theme is Tourism and Jobs: A Better Future for All. Tourism is a major source of employment contributing to 1 in 10 jobs around local communities globally. As the world’s largest industry and people-to-people sector, tourism plays a key role in socio-economic development by fostering entrepreneurship and providing career opportunities, particularly for women and youth. Tourism is an essential investment in our destinations to drive inclusive economic growth, empower human capital, create equitable employment, and contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals.

On the occasion of the World Tourism Day and commemorate this special day, TTRA planted 100 trees.  Thank you for your hard work in your local communities, and please make sure to check out the UNTWO website!

Warmest Regards,
Scott Russell
Chair, Travel and Tourism Research Association
