Engage in a focused line of scholarly inquiry related to the linkages of tourism, hospitality, and events to human health and well-being. Seek and secure extramural funding for research. Provide high-quality instruction in undergraduate and graduate courses. Recruitment and mentoring of graduate students. Provide service to the department, institution, and professions. Advancement of interdisciplinary research across the IU campus, and in a global context. The focus on tourism, hospitality, events and their intersections with public health that may include, but is not limited to such specific areas of the relationship of travel behavior to health, the role of travel and tourism in quality of life, the role of tourism in poverty alleviations, dining behavior and obesity prevention, event safety and crisis management, health disparity and disability in tourism, hospitality and events, travel and hospitality services for the aging population, as well as broader tourism areas of research as related to health including, international tourism, sustainable tourism, eco-tourism, and medical tourism.Qualifications:
Doctoral degree required. The combination of disciplines in which degrees have been earned and scholarly achievements should demonstrate the ability to work at the interface of tourism, hospitality, and events to human health and well-being. Evidence of quality teaching and mentoring master and doctoral students to successful completion. Candidates must also demonstrate a record of scholarly achievement appropriate for career level, including extramurally funded research, current funding, or strong potential to secure external funding, the ability to collaborate across disciplines, and a positive team spirit.

Assistant Professor in Experience Industry Management – Tenure Track
The Experience Industry Management Department in the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, CA, invites applications for a tenure‐track, academic year position. Starting date is negotiable, but on or before September 12, 2019, is preferred. The successful candidate will be expected to teach both undergraduate and graduate level courses in the Experience Industry Management Department and courses specific to an area of expertise in tourism marketing and destination management. Examples of potential courses may include Experiential Marketing Strategies for Experience Industry Management, Destination Marketing & Management, Professionalism & Customer Experiences, Interpreting Experience Industry Data Analytics, Introduction to the Experience Industry, Senior Project, and Assessment & Evaluation of Experience Industry Management.
Duties may also include, but are not limited to, supervision of undergraduate senior projects, graduate student research, student advising, and teaching graduate-level courses and/or in a Master of Professional Studies or certificate program. The successful candidate is expected to participate in scholarly activities (i.e., research, grant writing, publications, presentations) directly related to Tourism Marketing as part of their professional development. The successful candidate is also expected to provide service on committees for the department, college, and university and participate in instructional-related development activities. Expectations also include service to local, state, national, tourism and/or destination marketing and management related professional organizations.Qualifications:
A Doctorate degree in tourism marketing, destination marketing, experiential marketing, recreation, parks, and tourism administration, tourism and hospitality, or a related field required. Applicants should have a combination of teaching, practical and/or research experience in tourism marketing.
Must demonstrate excellence in teaching, effective communication, and interpersonal skills. The ability to be a productive team player and to interact well with peers, students, the tourism and destination marketing industry sector, government agencies, and the general public is essential.
Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong interests in undergraduate and graduate teaching are required. Candidates must also demonstrate an ability to initiate, complete, secure external funding, and publish research. Must demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Previous work experience with tourism marketing organizations, destination management companies, or tourism analytics organizations and experience with online course development and online teaching are highly preferred. The ability to collaborate on research with faculty across the College, University, and industry is desirable. Candidates who have international experience or the desire to cultivate international links are preferred. Significant experience working with underrepresented students in research, teaching, service, advising, mentoring or the community is desirable.

We are searching for a Data Analyst to assist with a variety of studies and projects, particularly in the areas of mountain resort tourism, snow sports, and parks, recreation, open space and trails planning.
Responsibilities for this position include coordination of individual research efforts on a variety of fronts, survey programming and fielding, managing data retrieval remotely, monitoring data quality, processing and cleaning of survey data, and generation of both tabular and graphical data summaries. The successful applicant will have had experience working and processing large datasets, be detail oriented, and enjoy working in, and contributing to, a strong team environment. Some or all of the following specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities are desirable:
* Undergraduate or higher statistics course work
* Must have experience with SPSS or similar statistics packages
* Experience with Tableau or similar data visualization packages
* Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
* Excellent communication skills
* Familiarity with modern qualitative and quantitative research methods
* Experience with MS Office, with proficiency in Excel
* Programming experience with PHP, Perl, or Java a strong plus
* Strong organizational skills with a particular emphasis on details and accuracy
* Ability to managing multiple projects independently
* Ability to summarize and synthesize research results in a concise written format a plus.
