Six months in: How Canada’s tourism industry is faring and how research and analysis is informing decision making

When COVID-19 struck, the entire tourism industry had to rethink many of its core assumptions. This presentation will highlight the substantial pivots – in terms of focus, subject matter and decision support that Destination Canada’s research has undergone, how this research has supported decision making for the organization and the industry, and some initial thoughts on next steps as we move forward.

Chantz is responsible for the oversight of Destination Canada’s research teams to provide our marketing teams, government at all levels, and our partners with insights and information on tourism to support sound evidence-based decision making. Currently, his professional interests centre around how industry can be more resilient, and how to encourage sustainable growth over the long term. Chantz holds a Master of Science from MIT and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Economics from McGill University.
