Visit North Carolina, part of the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC) (www.edpnc.com), is actively recruiting for a Director of Tourism Marketing. The EDPNC oversees tourism promotion in addition to other business units of new business recruitment, existing industry support, international trade development and small business counseling for the state of North Carolina. EDPNC’s mission is the improve the economic well-being and quality of life for all North Carolinians.
The Senior Manager, Tourism Marketing, (Director of Tourism Marketing) will direct North Carolina’s tourism brand positioning, building upon a foundation of research driven strategic plans. The position will utilize marketing and advertising tactics that leverage North Carolina’s attributes and amplify the voice of partner DMOs statewide. The manager will provide a consistent, synergetic message that amplifies the state’s scenic beauty, landscape, sights, sounds and flavors bringing to life the stories and characters of the state from the mountains to the sea while representing Visit North Carolina with industry partners and clients.

The Department of Tourism, Hospitality & Event Management (THEM) in the College of Health and Human Performance (http://hhp.ufl.edu/) at the University of Florida invites applications and nominations for the position of department chair at the rank of tenured Professor. This is a 12-month full-time appointment with an effective start date of July 1, 2020. The University of Florida campus is located “where nature and culture meet” – in the city of Gainesville, which has been repeatedly identified as one of the top places to live in the U.S. The state of Florida has a dynamic hospitality and tourism industry that receives more than 100 million visitors annually. The University of Florida is ranked #7 in public Universities in the US.
This Department was formed from a recent College restructuring effort to create more focused disciplines. The faculty are dedicated to study the impact of hospitality services and tourism management on society (http://hhp.ufl.edu/about/departments/them/). The department has seven, full-time, tenure-track faculty and two full-time lecturers. It houses undergraduate through Ph.D. programs in both online and residential formats.
Research programs of the department are internationally recognized and are centered on environmental sustainability of the worldwide tourism industry, tourism analytics and big data approaches toward analysis of tourism behavior, tourism crisis management, and sport tourism at local, national and international venues. The Eric Friedheim Tourism Institute is housed within the Department and provides an internationally recognized research and education network between researchers and the tourism industry.
The Chair serves as the chief academic and administrative officer of the Department and reports to the Dean of the College. The Chair is responsible for strategic planning; academic leadership; curriculum development; fiscal management; personnel matters; working with the College’s Development officer; and effective representation of the Department, College and University to state, national and international communities.
Candidates are required to have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in Hospitality, Business, Tourism, Event Management, Recreation or a related field. Most importantly, a successful candidate must possess and be able to share a vision of research, graduate and undergraduate education that will lead the department toward national and international prominence as well as continued growth of the undergraduate program. Candidates are expected to have a strong record of successful administration, leadership, mentorship, fundraising, research experience, and teaching excellence. Additional skills that will be evaluated are the ability to oversee and develop distance/online education; managerial and communications skills; financial management expertise; ability and willingness to mentor early career faculty members and doctoral students, and commitment to shared governance, academic integrity, professional service and cultural diversity.
